CSIRO Publishing
CSIRO Publishing, a branch of CSIRO proper (the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation), publishes both books and journals, along with a raft of promotional material. I first worked on a short-term contract in-house, and since then have continued to freelance with them over the years.
My biggest project with the marketing team was an interesting and unusual challenge: creating branded collateral using only the existing website design as a guide, and the templates needed to be easy enough for the team – untrained in graphic design – to work with when I was gone. Happily they were thrilled with the templates. There were also numerous other pieces of marketing collateral. Since then I have worked on the more unusual or complicated projects outside their expertise.

Standard square format book catalogue for adults

Templates for promotional flyers and similar were designed to present a consistent and readable look, and to be easy for marketing team members to reproduce

Conference flyers were thoroughly and clearly stylesheeted

Various ad templates and mix-and-match graphics were designed, with CC Libraries for ease of use

Books were promoted in a multiplicity of sizes for online display ads

Animated promotional ads had to work within strict file size limits for Google AdWords

The square catalogue for children was a playful extension of the corporate catalogue, with original hand-drawn graphics, such as the brushstroke banner

The children's catalogues were not designed as templates, as the content varies too greatly with each issue

Curious Kids collateral extended to posters and ads of various sizes

A playful DL flyer utilises a stock image as a starting point, and links to CSIRO Publishing brand through its fonts and colour palette

DoubleHelix is a magazine produced for children, and required much marketing collateral that tied in with the magazine's existing brand identity; some but not all of these were templated
