Traditional watercolour illustrations for an interactive children’s iPhone book app.
This job was a huge amount of fun! The illustrations are done in traditional watercolour, and I enjoyed experimenting with adding sea salt to the paint while it was still wet – it sucks up the pigment and creates lovely mottled effects perfect for these yucky monsters.
Many of the pages in the app were animated – for example, mud spattering the screen, or the Yucky kicking the dog and other simple movements – so there were a lot of extra components to the illustrations that were required for the animators.
