The Turn of the Screw

During lockdown in 2020, with performing arts venues closed around the country, Melbourne Theatre Company launched Audio Lab.

The first project was a dramatic reading of Henry James’ The Turn of the Screw. I was asked to create the artwork that would accompany each podcast. I read the short story and was fascinated by the atmospheric tale – there was certainly no shortage of scenes to inspire an illustrator with an open brief! My choice of style and medium (digital ink and wash) were approved, and I threw myself into the job. It was a great distraction from the sombre events taking place around the world.
