Noises Off

Written in 1982, Noises Off is a farce in the Benny Hill tradition. A play-within-a-play, it also contains a sex farce called Nothing On.

As a senior graphic designer at Melbourne Theatre Company, I had the opportunity to work on the single ticket campaign of this play, creating an entirely different image from the subscription campaign.

One of the challenges was that none of the parts had been cast, yet the campaign budget necessitated longevity. We shot the images with five models, creating an exciting and vibrant image without showing a single face. It was a resounding success and helped sell out the season.

The collateral included numerous print and digital items, and not one play programme but two, the second being a vintage-style condensed programme for Nothing On. It was a lot of fun researching programmes of the era, especially emulating the poor print quality common at the time. They were printed as a comb-flip souvenir booklet.

Campaign collateral included indoor posters and outdoor signage, banners, traditional programme and numerous digital ads.
